Chaka Khan
Chaka Khan is a famous American singer-songwriter. She's also known by her infamous nickname, The Queen of Funk. Her total number of Grammy awards is of ten Grammys during her career spanning over fifty years. In addition, she was named the 65th-highest successful dancing artist in history by Billboard magazine. Her birthplace was in Chicago, Illinois and introduced to jazz early on in her age by her grandmother. She began her career by being in different bands. Then, she joined a group that was named Rufus. With the group, she recorded her first record in her 20s. The following year, the group won the first Grammy. In the following year, she debuted as a solo artist, and the album was self-titled. She then released several other albums throughout the years, including 'Echoes of an Era', 'The Woman I Am' and "Funk This". Also, she is known for her charitable work. The foundation she founded was her foundation, the Chaka Khan Foundation to help children from poor families, in addition to those suffering from autism. Khan is also an actress on occasion. She portrayed sister Carrie as the main character in the musical "Mama I Want to Sing'.
