Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian is a Canadian-American feminist media critic as well as a public speaking. She founded Feminist Frequency the website which hosts videos and commentary analyzing portrayals of women in popular cultural. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from the age of 7, she started her site Feminist Frequency in 2009 while studying at the university. In 2009, the ambitious young woman was slammed by the Internet for starting a web featuring a series about gender and videogames. The woman was not stopped by the harassment, actually, it just reinforced her desire to become a media critic and feminist. Numerous awards have been given to her for her contributions to the field she contributed to. Anita Sarkeesian is an award nominated media critic as well as the founder of Feminist Frequency an educational nonprofit that explores the representations of women within pop media and the narratives that surround them.
